Mini/Peewee Course

-Ages 3-7


Mini and Peewee team focuses on beginner skill advancement, motor skills improvement, instructional directions, majorette fundamentals, acrobatics fundamentals, and novice pom dance movement. Members participate in parades, community events, showcases, and selected competitions.

Pre-majorette Course

- Ages 8-18 -Entry Level

​

Technique and dance fundamentals are the ABCs of all movement. Our pre-majorette course teaches beginner dancers the fundamentals of dance, body placement, injury prevention, performance basics, and entry-level preparation. Pre-majorette members touch on entry level majorette, pom, ballet, jazz and acrobatics. Drilling the curriculum will turn movement into muscle memory for advanced-level placement. Pre-majorette members are able to showcase their skills in parades, participate in team bonding activities, and join fundraisers. Pre-majorette members must be able to pass the Pre-majorette exam in order to advance to the Rookie or Stand Battle Course.

Vet Courses

-Competitive Team

Ages 8-18

​

Vet Team teaches high-intensity, fast-paced, and explosive hip hop majorette dance that focuses on self-expression, creativity, crowd entertainment, and street dance. Members are required to pass the Intro to Majorette and Rookie prerequisite courses before selecting the Vet Team. Vet members touch on intermediate majorette, ballet, jazz, and acrobatics. Vet members undergo extended choreography rehearsals, disciplined training, and a strenuous selection process (cuts) before performing or competing. After meeting all requirements, Vet members participate in parades, community events, showcases, and majorette competitions. Vet members also get to travel, participate in fundraisers, and join team bonding events. Vet members must pass the Vet Exam to move to the Elite Course.

Rookie Courses

- Non-Competitive Showcase Team

Ages 8-18

Our Rookie Team focuses less on form, technique, and structure and more on the fun and joy you receive from dancing. Rookie members can enjoy social performances without the stress of, a strenuous selection process (cuts), judge critiques, extended practice hours, numerous routines to retain, or various uniforms to order. Rookie members touch on beginner majorette, pom, ballet, jazz, and acrobatics. Rookie members are required to pass the Intro to Majorette prerequisite course before moving to the Rookie Courses. Rookie members then have opportunities to display their love for dance at parades, community events, and performances around the city! Rookie members also participate in team fundraisers and team bonding activities. Rookie members must pass the Rookie Exam to move to the Vet Course.

Elite Courses

-Competitive Team 

Ages 8-18

Elite Course focuses on HBCU danceline prep. Elite members who are aiming to dance for a college showband have the opportunity to train in a realistic environment and participate in parades, field trips, showcases, community events, performances, travel, fundraisers, and team bonding activities. Elite practices are very structured and a strenuous selection process is required before performing or competing. Elite members are required to retain a numerous amount of choreography and learn various auxiliary basics. Passing the Vet prerequisite course is required before selecting the Elite Course.

Stand Battle Course

- Competitive Team (Auditions Required)

Ages 8-18 (Pre-Majorette Prerequisite Required)

 

Audition Requirements: coffee grinder, forward roll to standing, cartwheel, round off, backbend from standing, v-sit layout from standing, death drop from hitch kick, toe touch to split, heel stretch, back kickover, elbow cartwheel, Kipp up, rubber band, headspring, front walker, front handspring, superman, and helicopter.

Stand Battle is considered an extreme dance and consists of dance styles including: acrobatics, hip hop majorette, hip hop, and street stunts. Stand Battle Team focuses on high-intensity dance, aggressive movement, showmanship, and creativity. Stand Battle Members compete at hip-hop majorette competitions, participate in fundraisers, and join team bonding activities. Members are required to pass the Pre-majorette prerequisite course before auditioning for stand battle team and members are required to meet the audition requirements before being selected for the stand battle team. Stand Battle Members can enroll in any competitive or non-competitive course simultaneously.

Quest Course

Auxiliary Quest is a program designed to bridge the gap between high school dance and HBCU dance. No matter if you are a studio dancer, community majorette dancer, or school dance team dancer, Quest can help you prepare for the HBCU auditions process and give you a competitive advantage at tryouts. This program is open to High School Juniors and Seniors who would like to further their dance career as an HBCU dancer. A prerequisite of the DU pre-majorette course and DU SD crab level course or equivalent is required before enrolling in Quest. This program is open to members and non-members that meet the prerequisite requirements.
